The Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y — 24 cores and 48 threads at 2.90 GHz base / 4.10 GHz turbo, 60 MB cache, 250 W TDP, FCLGA4677. Supplied from stock with a 1-year warranty.
The 6542Y sits in the upper-middle of the 5th Gen Xeon Scalable (Emerald Rapids) family, launched in Q4 2023 on the Intel 7 process. With 24 Performance-cores, 60 MB of cache and a 250 W envelope it is built for dense virtualisation, databases and data-pipeline work that wants both thread count and the large cache.
The platform: 8 channels of DDR5-5200 at 1 DPC (up to 4 TB per socket), PCIe 5.0 with 80 lanes, and 3 UPI links at 20 GT/s for two-socket (2S) builds. It also supports Intel Speed Select Technology – Performance Profile, which lets firmware present the part as a 24-core, 20-core or 16-core SKU with different power profiles — useful for sizing mixed clusters on identical hardware.

Instruction set extensions: Intel SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, AVX-512 with two FMA units and AMX. Security and management: AES-NI, TDX, SGX (128 GB EPC), CET, TXT, VT-x with EPT and VT-d.
The 6542Y fits Socket E (LGA4677) platforms; 5th Gen parts are drop-in on most 4th Gen Sapphire Rapids boards after a BIOS update. The families we ship against most often:
Note the 250 W envelope: the chassis needs a heatsink and airflow plan rated for it, which rules out some compact 1U enclosures validated only to 205 W or less. Tell us your exact server model when you enquire and we will confirm compatibility and thermal fit.
| Processor | Cores / Threads | Base / Turbo | Cache | TDP | Memory | PCIe |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold 6542Y | 24 / 48 | 2.90 / 4.10 GHz | 60 MB | 250 W | 8× DDR5-5200 | 5.0 × 80 |
| Gold 6538Y+ | 32 / 64 | 2.20 / 4.00 GHz | 60 MB | 225 W | 8× DDR5-4800 | 5.0 × 80 |
| Silver 4416+ | 20 / 40 | 2.00 / 3.90 GHz | 37.5 MB | 165 W | 8× DDR5-4000 | 5.0 × 80 |
| Gold 6246 | 12 / 24 | 3.30 / 4.20 GHz | 24.75 MB | 165 W | 6× DDR4-2933 | 3.0 × 48 |
The 6542Y doubles the Silver 4416+ cache at the cost of 85 W more power, and lifts the DDR5 speed to 5200 MT/s that few other Gold parts reach. Against the older 6246 it offers twice the cores on a modern DDR5/PCIe 5.0 platform — at roughly twice the power draw.
Every processor is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. If a part fails within the period we replace it or refund it, and we cover return shipping on a verified fault. Stock is held in our own warehouse and normally dispatches within three to seven working days; tracking is issued at dispatch.
The minimum order quantity for this processor is 2 units. Price is quotation-based rather than listed, because server CPU pricing moves with each incoming batch — send us the quantity you need and we will come back with a firm quote and the current lead time. Larger quantities are tested in matched batches so you receive consistent steppings.
Tell us who you are — we reply within one working day with a firm quote, stock status and lead time. Volume discounts available.
