Frequently Asked Questions

Every unit carries a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. A verified faulty processor is replaced or refunded, and we cover the return shipping.

Every unit is inspected on arrival and again before dispatch: the heat spreader and the socket contact pads are checked for physical damage, thermal paste is cleaned off, and the processor is run through a full-core load test. Verified faulty units are replaced or refunded under our 1-year warranty.

Pricing starts at US$275.00 per unit with a minimum order quantity of 2 units. The final price depends on the order size - send us your quantity for a firm quote; volume orders are priced progressively lower.

Yes. The 2667 v4 is a Broadwell-EP part on the FCLGA2011-3 socket, which is exactly what the 13th-generation PowerEdge and Gen9 ProLiant platforms were built around. A handful of early BIOS revisions shipped before Broadwell support was finalised, so we recommend confirming the BIOS level - tell us your server model and we will check it for you.

In most cases yes - both generations use the LGA2011-3 socket and the Intel C612 chipset supports both. However, the board must have a BIOS that recognises Broadwell-EP microcode, and some OEM boards list v4 support only from a specific firmware version onward. Mixed v3+v4 pairs in one board are not supported.

Four channels of DDR4 at 1600, 1866, 2133 or 2400 MT/s, up to 1.5 TB per socket and 76.8 GB/s bandwidth, in ECC RDIMM, LRDIMM or 3DS RDIMM form factors. Desktop unbuffered DIMMs will not work, and the E5 v4 family does not support Intel Optane persistent memory.

Because it is the frequency model of the E5 v4 range: 3.20 GHz base and 3.60 GHz turbo on every core. For SQL databases, ERP systems, remote-desktop hosts and licence-per-core software, eight fast cores often outperform sixteen slower ones - and usually at a lower price.

The TDP is 135 W and the maximum case temperature is 78 degrees Celsius. Use a heatsink rated for LGA2011-3 (Square ILM or Narrow ILM per your chassis) and a chassis airflow plan that accounts for 135 W per socket. It does not require a discrete graphics card, but the board must provide video through its BMC or an onboard controller.

No. Broadwell-EP supports AVX2 only; AVX-512 arrived with the Skylake-SP Scalable generation. If your application requires AVX-512, look at the newer Xeon Scalable models - for example the Silver 4314 or Gold 6258R.

In-stock units normally dispatch within three to seven working days, with tracking issued at dispatch. Each processor is cleaned and shipped in an anti-static tray with foam; bulk orders are packed in matched batches.

The Intel Xeon E5-2667 v4 — 8 cores and 16 threads at 3.20 GHz base / 3.60 GHz turbo, 25 MB Intel Smart Cache, 135 W TDP, FCLGA2011-3. Supplied from stock with a 1-year warranty.

The high-frequency workhorse of the E5 v4 range

The 2667 v4 belongs to the Intel Xeon Processor E5 v4 family (Broadwell-EP), which Intel launched in Q1 2016 on a 14 nm process. Within the range it is the frequency-first model: only 8 cores, but the highest base clock of the family at 3.20 GHz with a 3.60 GHz single-core turbo. That makes it a long-time favourite for databases, virtualisation hosts and latency-sensitive applications where per-core speed matters more than core count — and it is the reason the part still trades actively on the secondary market.

The platform turn is the C612 chipset generation: 4 channels of DDR4-2400 (1600/1866/2133/2400, up to 1.5 TB and 76.8 GB/s per socket), PCIe 3.0 with 40 lanes, and two QPI links at 9.6 GT/s for two-socket (2S) builds on the FCLGA2011-3 socket.

Instruction set extensions: Intel SSE4.2, AVX and AVX2. Note for upgraders: Broadwell-EP predates AVX-512 (that arrived with Skylake-SP Scalable), and the E5 v4 family does not support Intel Optane persistent memory. Security and virtualisation: AES-NI, TXT, VT-x with EPT and VT-d are all present.

Servers that commonly take this processor

The 2667 v4 fits the LGA2011-3 / Intel C612 generation of platforms. The server families we ship against most often:

One caution when buying on the secondary market: E5 v3 (Haswell-EP) and E5 v4 (Broadwell-EP) share the LGA2011-3 footprint and most boards accept both, but many need a BIOS update before they will POST with a v4 part. Tell us your exact server model when you enquire and we will confirm compatibility and the required BIOS level.

How it compares across generations

Against its direct predecessor the v4 gains 5 MB of cache and the faster DDR4-2400 memory turn at identical clocks. Against the newer Scalable generations the trade-off is explicit: the Silver 4314 doubles the channels and lanes but runs a much lower base clock, so the 2667 v4 remains the pick when per-core frequency dominates the workload and the existing LGA2011-3 platform stays in service.

How each processor is tested before it ships

  1. Visual inspection of the integrated heat spreader, substrate and contact pads; the sSpec laser marking (SR2P5 on our E5-2667 v4 stock) is verified against the Intel specification sheet.
  2. Burn-in on an LGA2011-3 diagnostic board with a matched pair of DDR4 RDIMMs.
  3. All four memory channels and the first PCIe lanes are validated, then the CPU is identified in the BIOS and in the operating system.
  4. A sustained multi-threaded load test at full core count, with the clock and thermal readings recorded.
  5. Final clean, then packaging in an anti-static tray with foam, which is how it arrives to you.

Warranty and lead time

Every processor is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. If a part fails within the period we replace it or refund it, and we cover return shipping on a verified fault. Stock is held in our own warehouse and normally dispatches within three to seven working days; tracking is issued at dispatch.

Purchasing and volume enquiries

Pricing starts at US$275.00 per unit with a minimum order quantity of 2 units; the exact figure depends on order size. For volume purchases send us the quantity you need and we will come back with a firm quote and the current lead time — larger quantities are tested in matched batches so you receive consistent steppings.
