The flagship of the Xeon W-3400 workstation family
The w9-3495X is the top model of the Xeon W-3400 (Sapphire Rapids-WS) family, launched in Q1 2023 on the Intel 7 process for the W790 chipset. It is a workstation part, not a server SKU: single socket only (1S), no UPI links, but in exchange it gets 112 PCIe 5.0 lanes from the CPU (server Scalable parts expose 80), an unlocked multiplier for overclocking, and 8 channels of DDR5-4800 up to 4 TB — the most memory bandwidth and capacity ever offered on a desktop-platform chassis.
At 56 cores with a 105 MB Smart Cache and a 350 W base power budget (420 W maximum turbo power), it targets rendering farms, simulation, AI development boxes and heavy virtualisation on a workstation chassis. Package carrier is E1A — the same physical socket as server Socket E parts, but W790 boards are the supported platform.
