The entry Gold of the Emerald Rapids generation
The 5515+ is part of the 5th Gen Xeon Scalable (Emerald Rapids) family, which Intel launched in Q4 2023 on the Intel 7 process. It is the entry model of the Gold tier: 8 Performance-cores at 3.20 GHz base with a 4.10 GHz turbo, plus the same platform turn as the bigger Emerald Rapids parts — 8 channels of DDR5-4800 (up to 4 TB per socket), PCIe 5.0 with 80 lanes and 3 UPI links at 20 GT/s for two-socket (2S) builds on the FCLGA4677 (Socket E) platform.
It also carries the built-in accelerator set of the generation: one default device each of Intel QAT (QuickAssist), DSA (Data Streaming Accelerator) and IAA (In-memory Analytics Accelerator), plus AMX (Advanced Matrix Extensions) for AI inference and DL Boost.

Against the 20-core Silver 4416+ it wins clearly on per-core frequency; pick the Silver when thread count matters more than clocks.
