Frequently Asked Questions

Four more E-cores than the 14400 — eight in total — taking the thread count to twenty. In sustained parallel work (transcodes, virtualization, CI-style builds) the extra threads are worth roughly 20–25% over the 14400, while single-threaded performance is nearly identical.

Not on consumer 600/700 series chipsets — there the memory runs as non-ECC. On W680 workstation boards ECC UDIMMs are supported with this processor, which is the combination used in entry workstation chassis of this generation.

Every unit carries a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. A verified faulty processor is replaced or refunded, and we cover the return shipping.

Every unit is inspected on arrival and again before dispatch: the heat spreader and the socket contact pads are checked for physical damage, thermal paste is cleaned off, and the processor is run through a full-core load test. Verified faulty units are replaced or refunded under our 1-year warranty.

The minimum order quantity is 2 units. Pricing is quotation-based rather than fixed, so send us the quantity you need and we will reply with a firm quote; volume orders are priced progressively lower.

Any board with an Intel chipset from this list: Intel 600 and 700 series (H610, B660, H670, Q670, Z690, W680, B760, H770, Z790). Tell us the board or the machine model when you enquire and we will confirm compatibility and any BIOS requirement before you order.

2 channels DDR5-4800 or DDR4-3200, up to 192 GB, with a maximum bandwidth of 76.8 GB/s. The board determines whether ECC modules can be used; on consumer chipsets the same modules run as plain non-ECC. DDR type is not interchangeable — check the board before ordering memory.

No. Intel UHD Graphics 770 is integrated, so the motherboard video outputs drive the display and hardware video decode is handled on the iGPU. Add a discrete card only for gaming, CUDA or heavier compute work.

The TDP is 65 W and the maximum operating temperature is 100 °C, so a cooler rated for the LGA1700 socket and at least 65 W is sufficient. No cooler is included with the processor — make sure your chassis has one before the build.

Our stock ships under sSpec SRN3T. The laser marking on the integrated heat spreader is read off each unit and checked against the Intel specification sheet during inspection, and the sSpec is confirmed in the BIOS at boot.

The Intel Core i5-14500 Processor — 14 cores and 20 threads, 2.6 GHz base rising to 5.0 GHz with Turbo Boost, 24 MB Intel Smart Cache, 65 W processor base power, LGA1700. Supplied from stock with a 1-year warranty.

Fourteen cores at 65 W

The i5-14500 steps up the Raptor Lake Refresh line: six performance cores plus eight efficiency cores — fourteen cores, twenty threads — at 2.60 GHz P-core base with a 5.00 GHz Turbo, 24 MB of cache, 65 W, launched Q4 2023, with the larger UHD Graphics 770 on package.

The eight E-cores are what separate it from the 14400: background tasks, virtualization overhead and multi-user terminal duty land on them, leaving the P-cores free. At 65 W it fits the same corporate chassis as the rest of the line, and the UHD 770 handles signage and transcode work on the iGPU.

Which systems take this processor

Anything on the LGA1700 socket with an Intel 600 or 700 series chipset: H610, B660, H670, Q670, Z690, W680, B760, H770 and Z790. Both DDR4 and DDR5 boards exist for this socket — the memory type is a property of the board, not the processor, and these parts support either.

One caveat when buying a board separately: 600 series boards may need a BIOS update before they recognise a 14th Generation part, and the LGA1700 socket has a loading-frame retention mechanism — check that the board ships with the correct frame. Tell us the board or the machine model when you enquire and we will confirm.

How it compares across the i5 line

ProcessorCores / ThreadsBase / TurboCachePowerSocket

i5-1450014 / 202.60 / 5.00 GHz24 MB65 WLGA1700
i5-14600K14 / 203.50 / 5.30 GHz24 MB125 WLGA1700

The 14600K adds an unlocked multiplier and 300 MHz more Turbo at 125 W for Z-series boards — the enthusiast end of the line. For a locked 65 W build that parallelises, the 14500 is the top mainstream pick before the i7.

How each processor is tested before it ships

  1. Visual inspection of the integrated heat spreader, substrate and contact pads; the sSpec laser marking (SRN3T on our i5-14500 stock) is verified against the Intel specification sheet.
  2. Burn-in on a matched diagnostic board with a pair of memory modules of the correct type for this platform.
  3. All populated memory channels and the primary PCIe lanes are validated, then the processor is identified in the BIOS and in the operating system.
  4. A sustained multi-threaded load test at full core count, with the clock and thermal readings recorded.
  5. Thermal paste cleaned off, final inspection, then packaging in an anti-static tray with foam — which is how it arrives to you.

Warranty and lead time

Every processor is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. If a part fails within the period we replace it or refund it, and we cover return shipping on a verified fault. Stock is held in our own warehouse and normally dispatches within three to seven working days; tracking is issued at dispatch.

Purchasing and volume enquiries

The minimum order quantity for this processor is 2 units. Price is quotation-based rather than listed, because CPU pricing moves with each incoming batch — send us the quantity you need and we will come back with a firm quote and the current lead time. Larger quantities ship from the same production batch so the sSpec and the stepping stay consistent across your order.
