The eight-core Zen 4 launch part for AM5

The Ryzen 7 7700X is the eight-core part of the Raphael desktop line: a single eight-core CCD giving sixteen threads at a 4.50 GHz base with a 5.40 GHz maximum boost, 32 MB of L3 cache and a 105 W TDP, launched September 2022 on the 5 nm Zen 4 architecture.

It is the mainstream route onto the AM5 platform: DDR5-5200 dual-channel memory, PCIe 5.0 on both the graphics and storage lanes, and an integrated Radeon graphics engine that drives a display without a discrete card — useful for diagnostics and office builds alike.

Technical specifications

Instruction set extensions: MMX, SSE up to SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2 and AVX-512 (double-pumped 256-bit execution). Precision Boost 2 and Precision Boost Overdrive are supported, and the multiplier is unlocked for overclocking on 600-series boards.

Which systems take this processor

Anything on the Socket AM5 platform: X670E and X670 for maximum PCIe 5.0 connectivity, B650E for PCIe 5.0 on both graphics and storage with a mid-range price, B650 for mainstream builds, and A620 for entry systems that do not need overclocking.

• Gaming and creator desktops — AM5 boards from ASUS ROG STRIX / TUF, MSI MPG, Gigabyte AORUS and ASRock take the 7700X at full specification, and eight Zen 4 cores at 5.4 GHz cover gaming, streaming and content work in one machine.
• Workstations on AM5 — with 16 threads and up to 192 GB of DDR5 addressable, the 7700X fits CAD, code compilation and virtualisation workloads that do not justify a 12 or 16-core part.
• Platform notes — memory is DDR5 UDIMM only (AM5 takes no DDR4), and both channels should be populated with a matched EXPO-capable pair for the rated DDR5-5200 bandwidth.

Two caveats: AM5 boards do not accept AM4 processors such as the Ryzen 5000 series and vice versa — the sockets look similar but the pinout, mounting and keying all changed, so check the socket, not just the brand. Also note the 7700X has no bundled cooler: plan a cooler rated for a 105 W part before ordering. How it compares across the Ryzen 7000 line

All four are single-CCD or dual-CCD Zen 4 parts on the same AM5 platform. The 7600X and 7700X share the 105 W budget; the 7700X adds two cores and the highest single-core boost of the 105 W pair. The 7900X and 7950X move to two CCDs with 64 MB of L3 and a 170 W rating for heavily threaded work. The 3D V-Cache variants (7800X3D, 7950X3D) stack extra cache on top and are the gaming picks of the line — same socket, same board support.

How each processor is tested before it ships

1. Visual inspection of the integrated heat spreader, substrate and contact pads; the OPN laser marking (100-000000591 on our 7700X stock) is verified against the AMD specification sheet.
2. Burn-in on an AM5 diagnostic board with a matched pair of DDR5 UDIMMs.
3. Both memory channels and the primary PCIe 5.0 lanes are validated, then the processor is identified in the BIOS and in the operating system.
4. A sustained multi-threaded load test at full core count, with the clock and thermal readings recorded.
5. Thermal paste cleaned off, final inspection, then packaging in an anti-static tray with foam — which is how it arrives to you.

Warranty and lead time

Every processor is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. If a part fails within the period we replace it or refund it, and we cover return shipping on a verified fault. Stock is held in our own warehouse and normally dispatches within three to seven working days; tracking is issued at dispatch.
