The Intel Core i3-12100 Processor — 4 cores and 8 threads, 3.3 GHz base rising to 4.3 GHz with Turbo Boost, 12 MB Intel Smart Cache, 58 W processor base power, LGA1700. Supplied from stock with a 1-year warranty.
The i3-12100 was the first entry i3 on the hybrid Alder Lake platform: four Golden Cove performance cores with Hyper-Threading, 3.30 GHz base, 4.30 GHz Turbo and 12 MB of cache inside 58 W. There are no efficiency cores on this part, so what you get is four large cores rather than a mix — which is exactly what single-threaded office and line-of-business workloads want.
Its reputation came from benchmarks that put it within reach of much more expensive previous-generation parts in gaming and everyday responsiveness, at a fraction of the power. The platform is equally forward-looking: PCIe 5.0, DDR5 support, and boards that span budget H610 to W680 with ECC. For a machine that has to last five years in an office, that combination of a modern socket and a 58 W ceiling is the practical choice.

Instruction set extensions: Intel SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX and AVX2. Security and virtualisation: AES-NI, Intel VT-x with EPT and VT-d.
Anything on the LGA1700 socket with an Intel 600 or 700 series chipset: H610, B660, H670, Q670, Z690, W680, B760, H770 and Z790. Both DDR4 and DDR5 boards exist for this socket — the memory type is a property of the board, not the processor, and these parts support either.
One caveat when buying a board separately: 600 series boards may need a BIOS update before they recognise a 14th Generation part, and the LGA1700 socket has a loading-frame retention mechanism — check that the board ships with the correct frame. Tell us the board or the machine model when you enquire and we will confirm.
| Processor | Cores / Threads | Base / Turbo | Cache | Power | Socket |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| i3-12100 | 4 / 8 | 3.30 / 4.30 GHz | 12 MB | 58 W | LGA1700 |
| i3-13100 | 4 / 8 | 3.40 / 4.50 GHz | 12 MB | 60 W | LGA1700 |
| i3-14100 | 4 / 8 | 3.50 / 4.70 GHz | 12 MB | 58 W | LGA1700 |
The three parts are the same silicon with different bins. The 13100 adds 100 MHz at base and 200 MHz at Turbo for 2 W more; the 14100 adds another 100/200 MHz back at 58 W. The 12100 remains the value pick — the gap to the 14100 is real but small in office work, and the savings are better spent on memory or an SSD.
Every processor is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. If a part fails within the period we replace it or refund it, and we cover return shipping on a verified fault. Stock is held in our own warehouse and normally dispatches within three to seven working days; tracking is issued at dispatch.
The minimum order quantity for this processor is 2 units. Price is quotation-based rather than listed, because CPU pricing moves with each incoming batch — send us the quantity you need and we will come back with a firm quote and the current lead time. Larger quantities ship from the same production batch so the sSpec and the stepping stay consistent across your order.
Tell us who you are — we reply within one working day with a firm quote, stock status and lead time. Volume discounts available.
