Intel Xeon Gold 5320 — 26 cores and 52 threads at 2.2 GHz base / 3.4 GHz turbo, 39 MB cache, 185 W TDP, FCLGA4189. Supplied from stock with a 1-year warranty.
The 5320 belongs to the 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake-SP) family, launched in Q2 2021 on a 10 nm process. It pairs 26 cores / 52 threads with a 2.2 GHz base and a 3.4 GHz turbo ceiling on a 185 W envelope, plus PCIe 4.0 with 64 lanes. The chip scales across two sockets over three UPI links at 11.2 GT/s and runs DDR4-2933 across eight channels with a 6 TB per-socket ceiling; Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series is supported alongside DDR4. Speed Select comes as Core Power, Turbo Frequency and Base Frequency variants, with a high-priority / low-priority partition of 12 cores at 2.5 GHz and 14 cores at 2.0 GHz underneath. Thermal rating is TCASE 79 °C in a 77.5 mm × 56.5 mm package, and no Embedded Options variant is offered.
Security and acceleration are Ice Lake staples: AVX-512 with two FMA units, DL Boost, TSX-NI and VMD, Intel Crypto Acceleration, Resource Director Technology and Speed Shift, plus Total Memory Encryption, Run Sure reliability and Platform Firmware Resilience. SGX is supported with Intel SPS and a 64 GB enclave page cache.

The 5320 fits FCLGA4189 (Whitley) platforms whose BIOS supports 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable parts, in single- or dual-socket layouts. With 26 cores inside a 185 W envelope at the DDR4-2933 memory tier, it targets cost-balanced mainstream nodes - roles that need real core count without the top-bin price:
In dual-socket builds the three UPI links keep cache-coherent traffic at full bandwidth, giving a 52-core / 104-thread node total. Confirm the platform BIOS supports Ice Lake parts before ordering, and confirm the chassis cooling is rated for a 185 W processor. The 14-core low-priority partition at 2.0 GHz suits throughput-oriented roles: storage front ends, hyper-converged infrastructure and warm-tier databases.
| Processor | Generation | Cores / Threads | Base / Max turbo | Cache | TDP | Memory support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xeon Platinum 8280 | 2nd Gen (Cascade Lake) | 28 / 56 | 2.7 / 4.0 GHz | 38.5 MB | 205 W | 6ch DDR4-2933 |
| Xeon Gold 6338 | 3rd Gen (Ice Lake-SP) | 32 / 64 | 2.0 / 3.2 GHz | 48 MB | 205 W | 8ch DDR4-3200 |
| Xeon Gold 6330 | 3rd Gen (Ice Lake-SP) | 28 / 56 | 2.0 / 3.1 GHz | 42 MB | 205 W | 8ch DDR4-2933 |
| Xeon Gold 6314U | 3rd Gen (Ice Lake-SP) | 32 / 64 | 2.3 / 3.4 GHz | 48 MB | 205 W | 8ch DDR4-3200 |
| Xeon Gold 5320 | 3rd Gen (Ice Lake-SP) | 26 / 52 | 2.2 / 3.4 GHz | 39 MB | 185 W | 8ch DDR4-2933 |
Against the 32-core Gold 6338 the 5320 gives up 6 cores and 9 MB of cache while running 200 MHz higher at base (2.2 vs 2.0 GHz) and 200 MHz higher at turbo (3.4 vs 3.2 GHz) on 20 W less, though its memory ceiling sits one step lower at 2933. Against the 28-core Gold 6330 it trades 2 cores and 3 MB of cache for 200 MHz more base and 300 MHz more turbo on 20 W less, both parts sharing the DDR4-2933 tier. Against the 32-core Gold 6314U it gives up 6 cores and 9 MB with a 100 MHz lower base, keeps the same 3.4 GHz turbo and runs 20 W cooler with memory one tier down. Next to the 2nd Gen Platinum 8280 it offers 2 fewer cores with 0.5 MB more cache, a 500 MHz lower base and a 600 MHz lower turbo on 20 W less, and adds PCIe 4.0 with 64 lanes and eight memory channels over the older part’s 48 lanes and six.
Every 5320 carries a 1-year warranty covering defects in workmanship and function; a verified faulty unit is replaced or refunded with return shipping covered. New units come in Intel tray packaging (order code CD8068904659201); tested pull units are labelled as such and priced separately. In-stock units typically ship within 2-3 business days after payment confirmation.
