Samsung PM893 7.68 TB — model code MZ-7L37T600, a 2.5-inch 7 mm data-center SSD on SATA 6 Gb/s with Samsung V-NAND TLC, 550 MB/s sequential read and 520 MB/s sequential write, rated 14,016 TBW over five years. Supplied from stock in new and tested pull condition, with a 1-year warranty from us.
This is the top capacity in the PM893 line, and the reason to pick it is density without a platform change: 7.68 TB in the same 2.5-inch 7 mm envelope as a 960 GB drive, on the SATA ports and SAS backplanes the chassis already has. Eight of these fill a 2U twelve-bay shelf with 61.4 TB raw; the same shelf built from 1.92 TB drives tops out at 23 TB. No new NVMe backplane, no PCIe switch, no re-cabling.
Endurance is the honest constraint. 14,016 TBW across 7.68 TB is 1.0 drive-write-per-day for five years (14,016 ÷ (7.68 × 365 × 5) = 1.0), which is what Samsung rates the whole PM893 family at. That suits read-intensive server work — boot volumes, virtual machine images, backup landing zones, web and application tiers, cold-to-warm data. For sustained write-heavy logging or caching, the sibling PM897 is rated 3 DWPD and is the part to budget for instead.
Platform support is the plain SATA set: hot-swap 2.5-inch bays, SATA 6 Gb/s backward compatible with 3 Gb/s and 1.5 Gb/s, and compatibility with SAS controllers that accept SATA targets. The drive carries power-loss protection, AES 256-bit full-disk encryption with TCG Opal 2.0 and IEEE 1667, TRIM, garbage collection, S.M.A.R.T. and a 2.0 million hour MTBF. Full details are in the specification table below; browse the rest of the enterprise and data-center SSD range or the Samsung line if you are mixing capacities in one order.
Capacity is the headline: this is double the 3.84 TB model in the same 100.20 × 69.85 × 7.0 mm shell, so a rebuild that swaps 3.84 TB drives for these doubles usable capacity without touching the drive count, the caddies or the backplane. Read and write performance do not change with capacity across the family — 550 / 520 MB/s and 98K / 30K IOPS from 960 GB upward — so the larger drive costs you nothing in throughput per drive.
Power is the other number that matters at density. Average active write is 3.2 W and idle with DIPM off is 1.5 W; twenty-four of them writing flat out pull about 77 W, which is inside what a 2U SATA shelf and its fans are already provisioned for. Power-loss protection is on board: on an unexpected power cut the drive's capacitors hold the controller long enough to flush the DRAM write cache to NAND, which is what stops a RAID rebuild from starting on a corrupted stripe.
The rest of the drive is standard Samsung data-center firmware: end-to-end data protection, S.M.A.R.T. health reporting, TRIM and garbage collection, and an operating range of 0–70 °C — the temperature band a front-loaded 2U server actually runs in.

Any 2.5-inch hot-swap bay fed by a SATA or SAS controller will take a 7 mm SATA drive. The chassis we ship against most often:
On a pure SAS backplane the drive negotiates at SATA speed on that port, which is the normal way SATA drives are run behind a SAS expander. Check that the controller or expander lists SATA target support before a full-shelf rollout, and confirm the drive caddy is the 7 mm 2.5-inch type; 15 mm caddies need a spacer. Tell us the server model and we will confirm the bay type and controller before shipping.

Against the 3.84 TB the arithmetic is simple: twice the capacity, twice the TBW, identical performance and power. Per terabyte it is also the cheaper way to buy the family — the same enclosure, cable and bay doing twice the work.
Against the 240 GB and 480 GB the small capacities are the only ones where Samsung changes the numbers: 380 MB/s sequential write and 15K / 29K IOPS random write, because there are fewer NAND die behind the controller. From 960 GB upward the drive is fully uniform, which is why mixed-capacity nodes are best built from 960 GB and above.
Against the PM897 the trade is endurance for cost: PM897 is the 3 DWPD write-intensive sibling in the same 2.5-inch SATA shell, rated for triple the writes at a higher price per gigabyte. If the workload writes more than one full drive per day, the PM897 pays for itself in avoided replacements; below that the PM893 is the better buy.
Every drive we ship carries a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and function. Verified faulty units are replaced or refunded and we cover return shipping. Stock is held in both new and tested pull condition — the condition you order is confirmed before dispatch, and pull drives are tested as described above rather than sold as untested lots. Orders placed before 15:00 ship the same working day, and volume orders are quoted individually with lead time confirmed at the time of enquiry.
Pricing is quoted per order because condition and quantity both move it. Send the quantity, the condition you need, and the server or shelf the drives are going into, and you will get a quote with lead time the same working day. If you are sizing a rebuild, tell us the current drive count and capacity and we will quote the equivalent in 7.68 TB, including mixed orders where some bays stay on 3.84 TB.
Tell us who you are — we reply within one working day with a firm quote, stock status and lead time. Volume discounts available.
